Thanks to all our donors who made our 2018 Annual Benefit for Kids a success!
It was a magical evening. On April 12th, over 425 people gathered to celebrate our kids, our Youth Apprentices, our staff and teaching artists, our program partners, and all the supporters who make our work possible.
Honoree David Cheikin expressed the importance of CAW's mission, while Felipe Franco, Deputy Commissioner, NYC Administration for Children's Services, spoke of the tranformative role arts programs play in the lives of vulnerable youth. Jerry Larkin, Executive Vice President, Director of Leasing, accepted the honor on behalf of our supporter Brookfield Properties.
Most importantly, this year's Benefit for Kids raised critical funding which will allow Creative Art Works to bring vital arts programs to thousands of NYC youth in the coming year.
The evening was a valued opportunity to meet and mingle with all the people who have become part of the Creative Art Works family. Thank you to everyone who participated in this unprecedented level of support.
Soaring praise from our Honorees
Deputy Commissioner, NYC Administration for Children’s Services and 2018 Honoree
"We live in.. the safest, biggest, city in the nation. It's safer than ever before, and I think [that's] because... multiple administrations have made a commitment to do something really, really smart, which is investing in young people to turn their life around. And art [programs are] an important part of that. They are a priority for us, and they should be a priority for every kid in New York City."
David Cheikin, 2018 Honoree
"Each year, CAW serves thousands of at-risk youth through art... CAW's structured art-based programs are designed to help children develop personal and professional skills. Over the course of each program, participants not only learn the technical skills needed to accomplish their tasks, but, really, they learn leadership and teamwork and creativity. And most importantly, it fills them with the sense of confidence that they may have not gotten in other venues."
