Benefit guests picked up a brush for live mural-painting.
At Creative Art Works, we dream big, and we are grateful to all the wonderful people who supported our Dreams of a Creative Revolution. We dream of a world where every child’s education is holistic, and includes creativity and collaboration, inquiry and expression. We dream of a world where every young adult’s first job offers a chance to grow personally and professionally and to contribute something to their community. We dream of a world where young people are energized by the possibilities on the horizon. Turning dreams into reality takes teamwork. Turning big dreams into reality requires a big team.
Some of the over 250 supporters and partners who made our 2022 Benefit for Kids a joyous event
On Thursday, May 12th, we gathered for our 2022 Benefit for Kids. It was our first in-person benefit in three years, and we were overjoyed to welcome over 250 CAW supporters, partners, and Youth Apprentices to 157 E. 53rd Street for drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and a long-anticipated chance to mingle. In keeping with the event theme, we saw potential in a vacant retail space and transformed it into a pop-up art gallery and dreamy party space.
We offer our heartfelt thanks to all of our sponsors and donors who contributed nearly $800,000 to make our benefit such a success! This critical funding will allow CAW to bring vital arts programs to thousands of NYC youth in the coming year.
Benefit Co-Honorees Bobby Scheinman & Brian Goldman
We are grateful to our wonderful honorees: Brian Goldman of Newmark, Bobby Scheinman of J.T. Magen, and our Youth Honoree Amari Outlaw-Clark.
Thanks to our Host Committee for their tireless fund-raising efforts, in particular Brian and Bobby for their selfless leadership and generosity. We want to thank the true heroes, our Teaching Artists, the frontline workers who showed up consistently during the worst days of the pandemic, provided trauma-informed lessons to our young people, and adapted to the constantly changing circumstances as our program partners began to return to in-person instruction.
CAW Youth Apprentice Jonathan Hyman discusses his work on the 2021 summer mural, Connections Through Time and Space.
Our guests and friends were glowing as they met our Teaching Artists, our students, and our Youth Apprentices. They gleefully participated in live mural painting and contributed to a colorful community collage project. Our guests savored hundreds of works of art in our youth art gallery, and many, inspired by what they saw, engaged in thoughtful dialogue with our young docents.

"It's always been important to me that the community that raised me also follows me with every achievement; to inspire others to express themselves; and to make sure that young people, no matter what their background, are presented with the right tools and opportunities to discover and tell their stories to willing ears.
