About the Character Design Program

For the fourth year in a row, Creative Art Works and FunPlus, a leading independent mobile game developer and publisher, collaborated on a new iteration of the Character Design Program. As in previous years, interns created their own fully-realized characters, with backstories, personality traits, and strengths and weaknesses. This year, they were also challenged to work in small teams to create a narrative connecting all their characters into one overarching storyline.

CAW Teaching Artists provided four hours of in-person instruction over the course of fifteen weeks. FunPlus creative professionals from across the globe critiqued youth work, provided career advice, and offered lectures on topics from creative direction such as story structure and world-building to receiving feedback and job interview strategies. Interns were also tasked with honing their public speaking skills by presenting their progress and final projects throughout the program to other schools and FunPlus professionals.

The program concluded with an award ceremony on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024, from 3:45 to 5:00 PM EST. The public was invited to attend this event via Zoom.
