“My Melanin is Not a Weapon”

I wanted to convey the injustice of people of color being consistently seen as a threat. To show this, I used a collage of some of the many people of color who have been killed simply because of the color of their skin. The primary picture represents people of color who want people to see them as who they are instead of being labeled as dangerous or a threat.

“When Will It End?”

I wanted to show the emotion of African Americans. Surrounding the boy are news articles of common things people of color have been suffering with in America for generations: slavery, police brutality, and incarceration for crimes they didn't commit. The articles on my poster date back from the early 1600s and yet similar things are still occurring today, which led me to chose the slogan, “When Will It End?” The boy in the poster represents hope for the future generations to see the end of people of color being treated the way we have been for so many centuries.

Inclusive Stock Photography

The Inclusive Stock Photography project was designed to address the scarcity of people of color, multicultural people, and LGBTQ+ people in commercial stock photography by creating professional-quality images of these underrepresented people in a variety of everyday settings, including romantic and platonic relationships, family, and communities.
