About the Artist

My name is Ariana E. Ponce. I am 17 years old and I attend Fordham High School for the Arts, where I am working in a paid character design internship with CAW in hopes of learning about animation and character designs. I also work at my school's library. I'm interested in learning animation because I am hoping to go to School of Visual Art (SVA). If I get the chance to go to SVA, I am hoping to learn about digital art and other types of mix media, as well as getting some life experience as an art student. I gained an interest in art when I was in middle school in an art class where we explored many different types of art. In that class I did spray painting, wall murals in my school staircase, sculpture, printmaking and some stop-motion animation. I had fun making art in my middle school and now that I am in high school I not only make art, but I get the chance to learn about the history of art. Creating art gives me the chance to explore more from what I see and I hope to learn a lot more in SVA if I get the chance. When I see other artists I ask myself, “What motivates them? What inspired them to have different types of art styles compared to myself?”
