Roger Martinez Character Design Portfolio

About the Artist

This is Roger Martinez’s  first job with Creative Art Works. His previous art program was actually a copper union Saturday program where he comes from 10 am-5 pm practicing many aspects of drawing like anatomy, colors, and animation. For The CAW program Roger’s plan is to learn more in design so that he may use this language for his future drawings and works. Roger has an offbeat personality which corresponds to artwork. His drawings usually rely on perspective and background, since he strives to be a director. The greatest thing about this internship for him, is allowing to give a time in his day to draw with his friends and grow as an artist every Wednesday through Thursday.  Furthermore Roger learned more in his perspective drawing and more in how colors mix and match, and with the Guest speakers providing coming in, providing great insight in not only the industry works but also the road artists have to go through in general. For Friends, Roger has strengthened his friendships and community which in turn strengthens his confidence as well. In the end, Roger grew and learned in not only art, but in confidence and friends as well.

The Detective

He appears always alone, staring. Chasing. Chasing men who have been accused, or have been suspected of, heinous crimes. Little is known about The Detective, only in stories and rumors, mostly told by cops, bystanders and the convicted. Only appearing at the stroke of midnight to start his chase, he appears in a classic black and yellow taxi from the 1930’s. Unknown driver. No license plate. No receipts. unknown.

This time he chases a man named Daniel. Suspected in killing spree of 10 men and women. But after 3 weeks of interrogation, they could've get a confession, and without enough evidence, he was cleared of all charges.

Two days later, Daniel takes a nice stroll in the empty sidewalk on one of the darkest of nights of the year. That’s when The Detective appears in his old school taxi. After a quick glance at the mysterious man, and without a single word, Daniel felt questioned, accused, guilty! The Detective chases him, staring with those bright eyes. Daniel runs, but The Detective is relentless. Panicked, Daniel seeks safety in a police station, where he breaks down and confesses his crime. He tries to tell the cops about The Detective, but, of course, nobody believes him.
