About the Artist
Ashvir Singh attends Information Technology High School and lives in East Elmhurst, Queens. He had a previous internship at Swiss Institute, which involved analyzing art rather than creating it. Despite lacking experience in art, Ashvir has learned to be creative through reading books that inspire his drawings of characters with complex emotions. Although he struggles to draw facial expressions, he can convey emotion and reactions through the characters' actions.
While the character Ashvir created may be going through something as complex as a divorce, their emotions will be shown as just a smile or frown, leaving the viewer to fill in the gaps and understand what might be going through their head.
The character was designed vaguely before this but this was the first real presentation and application of the fingers. This story was digitized, but the fingers definitely give a different vibe when hand drawn.
This is Pinky in her wedding dress. Although there’s more characters, she was chosen as the final design because it looked more unique, whereas the Priest, Lawyer and Ringy looked far more similar.
