Maham Khwaja

Teaching Artist

Maham Khwaja is a Pakistani-American writer, director, and teaching artist. She received an MFA in Film & Media Arts from the University of Utah and a BA from Emory University in Film Studies. Maham has experience working in feature film and network television production, as well as children’s programming, including Sim Sim Hamara (Sesame Street Pakistan). She is the recipient of the New Voices Award for Lee & Low Books for The Home We Make, a children's poetry book set to be published in fall 2024. Recently, Maham directed the music video for "Woh Umeed Ki Manzil," televised in Pakistan and an Official Selection of IFFSA Toronto, as well as, “Same Story, Different Voices” a short documentary about the Gullah-Geechee community on Sapelo Island. Currently, Maham is developing her first feature, Auntie Express, a story about a boisterous group of Pakistani-American aunties who run a food truck.
