Melany Ruiz Character Design

About the Artist

Melany Ruiz is an art student enrolled in Bayside High School. She found great joy in art ever since she was young. However, as she grew older, Melany slowly started to lose interest. When Melany was given the opportunity to become an intern for the CAW Character Design program, she became motivated to create art again. Throughout the program, Melany learned many new ideas, techniques, and concepts that further developed her artistic skills. Such new ideas include color theory, poses, and more. Melany also loved the environment created in the classes. She found her teacher, Monica Wynn, and her classmates to be very supportive. Overall, this was a great experience for Melany. She is delighted to find passion in art again.

Character Design: Otto

Otto is a kind 10-year-old kid who lives in a world similar to ours but filled with dinosaurs. Like most kids, he struggles with bullying at school.

Final Art

His round body depicts how kind and welcoming he is, the blue represents how quiet he is at school, and the red represents how loud and open he is at home.
