Jonnathan Oswal Agudo Character Design Portfolio

About the Artist

Jonnathan Agudo lives in Queens, New York. He is a senior at Information Technology High School and is part of the Web Design Academy. Throughout his years in high school he has learned a lot about coding and making designs. Although he may not be the best at it, he still puts in as much effort as he can. He grew up in Woodside, Queens where he attended P.S 11 and I.S 125, and took 4 honors classes. This is his first art experience, however he has been part of the Summer Youth Employment Program, where he had to make a business idea and create a website for it. During this Character Design Program, he learned that it's actually really fun creating characters with a story. He learned that he can draw better than he thinks and he doubts himself too much.

At first I liked my character design but later on I felt like changing the overall look of the fish by making it a bit more realistic. The new dots also add on to the character and story of the fish.

Artist Statement

This is the final design and I think it came out really well especially since I don’t have much experience in photoshop. He stands out a lot more with the Cheetah print and the colors represent an average pufferfish.

This is Jason! Jason is a pufferfish that wishes to have many friends; however, he is very shy and suffers from anxiety. Every time he meets someone new, he gets really nervous and accidentally puffs up scaring that potential friend away! One after one he scares them away and thinks that at this rate, he’ll never make a new friend. One day he meets a lot of sea animals, he first sees a little fish but scares it away after puffing up, then he sees a shrimp the size of a piece of gum and even meets a jellyfish that really caught his eye. Even after meeting so many animals, the same thing still happens. Until later on he sees this beautiful royal blue crab. Jason really hopes that he doesn't puff up but he is already starting to get really nervous and anxious about meeting this crab. Jason goes to try and speak to the crab but once he does, he puffs up out of nervousness and thinks he scared the crab away. However, the crab stayed and found Jason to be cute. The crab wanted to be Jason’s friend and Jason turns out to be really happy about that and lives on to be the crab’s friend.
