About the Artist

Karen Mendez is a 17-year-old young woman just finishing high school. She is about to enter her first year of college and wants to study biology to become either a gynecologist or a physical therapist. She has been working for CAW for a few months and loves the chill artistic vibe of drawing and freestyling what comes to mind in her notebook. She has no previous professional art experience but has always loved to draw. In fourth grade she was one of three kids who got picked out of the entire school to have their freestyle painting displayed on the wall. Karen learned that she doesn't have to sell herself short when it comes to being creative. Karen loves how all of these kids from different backgrounds can come together and relax, draw, and have a good time. It is very diverse, and the teacher is so nice and kind. She lifts everyone else with her positive energy when they are feeling insecure or down.
